As he logs on into his uni application account, all was quiet around him. Keying in the application number and password was all too easy. It had been the upteenth time he had done this logging in for the past week, almost a daily fervent ritual, just to check the status of the application.
The mail was sent out last week with a sigh of relief. The breather was short-lived however, and was soon replaced by disappointment, fears and uncertainties upon the realisation that the mail didn't reach its destination apparently. A friend who sent his mail later had already got the confirmation from the uni side, so it didn't make sense to have his still un-received. Although he had already decided to be neutral about the outcome of his application, it was still hard.
With the last few key presses entered, he clicks "Log in". Although his mind was in a blank, his heart was thumping away. In a few seconds time, he would know the result. With a click, he readies himself as the webpage loads for the status check screen...
Documents status - "Documents received."
"Finally," he mutters as he looked at those maroon words. Nope...it wasn't out of arrogance that he deserved it. It was relief, gladness, gratitude and humility.
Relief that the application was over.
Glad that he took the chance just the day before to personally take the trip down to deliver the mail by hand and the chance to be accepted into the school was not lost.
Gratitude for the many simple, yet important providences given by God along the way.
Humility for he knows he doesn't deserve it.
As he logs off, he is reminded once again that he's not alone. Whether he gets accepted by the school in the end is another matter. The school has received his application mail.
He has received a gracious providence from God.
