I guess that is why He calls it carrying our cross. No one would choose to carry a cross if given a choice...it's painful, it's an additional struggle, it's a weight to bear, and it just isn't part of us.
I'm sorry for the many times I fail to carry my cross...laying it down for the moment of physical comfort and relief, only to regret it so much later on. At times, I'm ashamed of the cross, to carry it in front of my friends...and so I compromise, hiding the cross in a corner and trying to blend in with the world. At times I lament and complain about the cross I have to carry. But it isn't too far down the road, before I'm reminded of the example You've set. You are the only one justified to throw away that cross upon Your shoulder, but You didn't. For You saw and know the times I would be tempted to lay down my cross..and so You perservered on, delibrate and purposeful in all of Your little actions and words in the final moments of Your life...knowing how much they'd mean to me the next time I look to You and say..."It's so hard..."... Sorry...and thank You.
