The helpout for GoFest on monday was cool. Was late in the morning (sorry guys!) meeting the peeps for breakfast at Expo. But oh well, managed to have the time to eat....which was really needed, cause we had to move like what.....14,000 bottles of mineral water bottles!?
Thankfully we had the help and providence of some other peeps from other churches and trolleys...certainly made things ALOT easier and faster.
But it was a good experience. Moving lots of stuff and preparing booklets and packages. Managed to talk abit to this youth pastor as we worked together and saw quite abit of peeps of other nations. Cool!
Wahh but at the end of the day...really tired out man...feels like I had just been through my 1st army in-camp training leh. Oh noooo...another mark of being.....older...
...makes me wonder...when will come the time I hear people start calling me Uncle Chan?
=(

-----------------------------------------------
Hoh....woke up with some backache on tuesday. But it was ok man....for the joy outweighed the physical pain...for it was the day of POP for yanquan! Woah....isn't it really fast? It didn't seem that long ago that I sent him off for his army...and now he's out from tekong. But yeah...I'm sure it doesn't feel fast at all for him in camp.
Met jiaen, her mom & weilun at pasir ris. Hee....somehow...with our combined powers, we magically produced 2 more tickets to go for the POP parade. Wah but when we saw the queue over at the interchange....really jaw dropping man. Apparently we ain't the only ones with magic around.... =(
Alighting the fast craft and stepping onto tekong...it was...woahhh. Haven't seen it eversince getting out of it 2 years and 8 months ago. But everything felt so familiar. The stairs I climbed on my first day of enlistment. The path that my company always marched on the way to bookout. The ferry terminal which I've spent the night at while doing guard duty. The parade square and stadium I had looked upon on my day of POP. It was all there. And it feels reeeally different being there once again as civilian.
Feels like.....a KING!!! WOOOT! Hehe...no more of fearful feelings as a recruit looking out nervously for any officers or sargeants.
Rainy day...means waiting out in the rain for the soldiers. Poor things man. Much waiting on our part too....but wasn't feeling too sian or what...cause was busy having flashbacks of my own time in tekong heh.
Finally the parade and all got started.
"So that's what my parents saw", I thought as I watched the parade from the stands. Seeing the soldiers go through the similar parade...it really reminded me of how I felt that day. You really feel great having gone through the training and having your closed ones witnessing your passing out. The sense of brotherhood as you sing the infantry song. Mann...
Finally came the moment for the parents to put on the jocky cap for their sons. Woot...managed to spot yanquan in the midst of all those mirror imaged bespectacled botaks (oops)...not bad ah? tsk tsk =)

Basically it was a long wait and long queues after that, waiting for out turn to board the fastcraft. Thanfully, there was a really beautiful evening tekong skyline view. A really nice picturesque evening view to end what should be my final tekong visit.
Heh couldn't resist. My fingers started clicking madly, capturing shots of the fading evening. You can't find much better ways to end the day other than beautiful sun set evenings.

To him who have endured the 1st stage of the army life,
well done man. As you see, things happen and time flies, all that you have endured, and will endure, will soon come to be a memory, something to look back and give thanks for. So in the mean time, with the things that you don't understand or find hard to handle with, look to Him for a faithful enablement and sustenance that will not fade with time or situations. Continue to grow strong and firm in the image of Him, as a man after His heart.
Am happy for you...take care for the days ahead yeah?
=)
