Not too long ago (before this hazy period).....there was this morning which was having a pretty heavy downpour.
Was on my way to work, and by the time I reached city hall for the company shuttle bus, it was super crowded man. You'd see all the working personnels squeezing infront of the newly built glass panel building of Saint Andrew's Cathedral.
I was half tempted to stand infront of them and say out loud..."mmmmm.....now that's what I call taking refuge in a church!" :D
I decided not to however...seeing that I was slightly outnumbered...and I didn't want to risk getting shoved out of the shelter as I didn't have an umbrella with me heh.
Thankful for this kind gentleman of our company who had an umbrella with him....he stood at the entrance of the shuttle bus carrying the umbrella, providing the shelter for all of us to board the bus un-drenched. How cool is that?
Brrr....it was really cold in the bus. So I was just looking out the window, admiring the morning shower upon us. Then...the bus passed by this church along the way. It was a Methodist church.
What caught my attention, was this huge 3 dimensional solid cross right at the front of the church building. This was what I saw...... (okaay pardon the bad drawing...what I saw wasn't so ugly...)
The whole concrete building was totally darkened by the rain, as the water splashed onto the grey concrete slabs. However, right under the cross structure....it was all light grey...dry and untouched at all by the rain....
...because of the cover of the cross.
That was the picture painted in my mind that morning. The cross that stood strong in suffering, taking for us the beatings of the world, so we would be kept safe in its shadow.
And when we leave the shadow of the cross.....we know it. We feel the heat and sting of the sun....we feel the lashings of rain upon us. A much needed reminder for me indeed....that it would be wise to walk and remain in Him....
...in the shadow of the cross.

[In The Shadow Of Your Cross] - Joel Engle
Lamb of God, Son of man how you suffered how You bled
With a crown of thorns pressed upon Your head
You chose the road of pain
You walked the hill of all my shame, all my shame
In the shadow of Your cross, I will live for all my days
How could I forget the price You paid
In the shelter of Your love I will give You all my praise
In the shadow of Your cross I will stay
Man of sorrows crucified pure and holy sacrifice
As the hammer hit the nail You offered up Your life
You gave up heaven for Your own
You took our punishment alone
You were so alone
O King of Majesty
Forever I will sing
Of the gift You gave to me
You gave to me
