So I joined a few of our....err....youths for movie. Actually I wouldn't have joined them if they watched that silly Dupree show...good thing they chose 'The Guardian'. A fine choice!
Was already planning to watch it when I saw its trailers. Looked interesting.
I must say...I enjoyed it. Haven't seen Kutcher in any serious role (Butterfly Effect would be one movie I missed)...and it's cool. Didn't have any 'dude-where's-my-car' image surfacing. His emotional scenes were quite good actually. Somehow....the emotional turmoil the 2 main characters of Kutcher and Costner tugged at my heart...the issues of mentorship, of rejection, of guilt and forgiving oneself...it brought back images and memories.
And yes, I did tear at the final heart-wrenching scene between the 2 men. As the question phrased by Kutcher's character...how do you know who it is to save when the time comes?
The show took its time with the trainee life period, which was good...building the characters of the various roles seen through the training (reminded me of my army life though). But the side characters didn't really have much part to them...with the show focusing mainly on the relation between Kutcher and Costner.
Was uncomfortable with the casual approach between the main character and his fling in their relationship, but other than the usual "hollywood movie spices", it was overall, a good movie for me. Enjoyed the action scenes, as well as the inner struggles the characters had to deal with.
A fisher of men, who won't ever let go...'So Others May Live'. Indeed.
Guess i'll be collecting it on dvd.
Ehh wait...what has this gotta do with the post title ah?
Err.....NOTHING AT ALL! :D (oops)
Oh poster...yes. Basically, I left the theater earlier, as it was cold. Decided to take a walk along the corridor aisle while waiting for the rest. And I came across this poster.......
It kinda got my attention when I walked past it...
...so I took a closer look.
I couldn't really tell what it was from the movie title of "The Nativity Story".
But....the man leading a lady on a donkey...
..the star...
...the tagline of "One family. One journey. One child who would change the world forever."
....and the December season screening date..
..it all adds up!
And it got me....excited. :D
So I did some searching...and so I present to you, the synopsis of the movie...
The Nativity Story chronicles the ardous journey of two people, Mary and Joseph, a miraculous pregnancy, and the history-defining birth of Jesus. This dramatic and compelling story comes to life in a major motion picture starring Keisha Castle-Hughes as Mary, Oscar Isaac as Joseph, and Academy Award nominee Shoreh Aghdashloo as Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist. The Nativity Story is directed by Catherine Hardwicke from a screenplay by Mike Rich. It is scheduled for a December release.Woah....don't know about you...but that's really interesting. With most of the similar movies focusing on Jesus's ministry...it's a refreshing viewpoint to see the events of Joseph and Mary leading to Christ's birth.
The filmmakers are bringing an unprecedented level of commitment to ensure the authenticity not only of the Nativity story itself, but of the film's look as well.
"We got the script into the hands of as many historians and theologians as possible." says screenwriter Mike Rich. "They have all helped to elevate the authentic feel of this film, not only visually, but from a standpoint of culture and tradition."
Because the actual locations of Bethlehem and Nazareth have become fairly modernizes over the years, the production decided to shoot in the village of Matera, Italy, which has been virtually unchanged for centuries (and was previously used as a location for THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST). Additionally, the production journeyed to Ouarzazate, Morocco where it shot scenes involving Herod's castle and the temple of Jerusalem at the same locations used in such filems as Gladiator and Kingdom of Heaven.
